From middle of 1980’s, Kenjiro Akama was given private tuition with Mikio Honda at legendary hair salon Daianyama BIJIN (widely known as YMO techno cut etc.)He moved to UK in end of 1980’s. After he got Diploma at VIDAL SASSOON Hairdressing School and First Academy London, He became the first assistant for Eugene Souleiman who is world-famous hair artist. Besides that, he was in charge of London Collection (Red or Dead etc.) as hair artist for the first time.
World-famous makeup artist Lisa Butler recommended him to MARINA JONES booking and work as hair artist.After that, he was in charge of hair for Alexander McQueen debut London collection (highly evaluated as the return of punk).He had been working for many fashion magazines, newspaper, collection, music and etc. mainly at London and Paris.He came back to Japan in middle of 90’s.Joined in PsycropsⅡ and working for fashion, theater, music and etc.After that, he established Arrabia & Aterier (hair&makeup agency) with makeup artist Naomi Kubota.He worked for Shinichiro Arakawa Tokyo Collection, Hedwig and the Angry Inch(Parco Theater), fashion, theater, movie, music, advertisement and etc.
On the other hand, he published first photo book 『ecrituré』as a photographer and held exhibition at Morioka shoten (Ginza), HADEN BOOKS (Aoyama) and etc.He opened his first hair salon ‘red room shirokanebisho’ (aim for chemical free) in 2020.
